SUNDAY MORNING ADULT GROUPS

SUNDAY MORNING ADULT CLASSES

Each Sunday morning we offer an adult Bible class in large group presentation and discussion.  We welcome new students at all times---just bring your Bible and come!

“Plumbing Parables and Mining Mashals:
Uncovering the Secrets of Life in the Kingdom of God”

Led by Pastor Mike Von Behren
Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship HalL
Beginning September 11, 2011

Jesus told his disciples, “The knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven has been given to you, but not to them...this is why I speak to them in parables” (Matthew 13:11,13). Yet, “when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything” (Mark 4:34).  In the Gospels Jesus teaches using many, many parables.

Yet Jesus took care to explain the parables to his disciples and they in turn have shared his teaching and explanations with us. Unlike many in the crowds in Jesus’ day, we too have the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven in the parables upon parables recorded in the Gospels.

Join us on Sunday mornings as we plumb them and find a flow of living water. Stay with us through the year as we mine them for resources for Christian living. Or—just come to find out what a Mashal is! One class and you’ll be hooked. I promise. I can promise that because I know who does the hooking—the Holy Spirit.

College-Age Fellowship
Bible Study

Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning January 8, 2012

On Sunday, January 8, the College-Age Felowship will begin meeting for Bible study on Sunday mornings between services (9:30 to 10:30 a.m.).  Three of our college and graduate students are eager to facilitate this group where young adults can dig into God's Word and discuss it together.  Make plans to make this a part of your spiritual life in the new year.

Augsburg Confession Bible Study
Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. beginning January 8, 2012

The Augsburg Confession and its Apology (defense) became the rallying point around which the Reformation churches gathered and identified themselves and their beliefs:  justification by faith alone, the nature of the church as the communion of saints, repentance as an act of faith, and many more. As confessional Lutherans, we value the Augsburg Confession because it is still our confession of the true faith in Christ Jesus.

This study will use video vignettes featuring professors at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, discussing the doctrines of the Augsburg Confession followed by a small gorup discussion prepared by Concordia Publishing House led by LAP program graduate David Snyder.

A sign-up sheet will be on the oak table in the church narthex.

Toddlers & Parents
Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in the Education Wing
End Classroom across from Childcare

Do you have a toddler? If so, it's time to introduce Sunday School! This fall we’re starting a Sunday School class for parents and toddlers using Christ-centered curriculum from Concordia Publishing House with age-appropriate learning experiences for toddlers. Hands-on activities, music, discovery centers, and storytelling are just some of the fun ways that we will teach these little ones that God made the world and God made me!  The class will meet in the end classroom across from childcare.
