MIDWEEK ADULT GROUPS

MIDWEEK GROUPS FOR ADULTS

Holy Cross offers many educational opportunities, both Sundays and midweek, designed to strengthen the faith of individuals and families. These midweek groups provide a place at Holy Cross where you can grow in your relationship and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

LifeLight Small Group Bible Study:  "Prayer"

Mondays at 7 p.m. beginning January 9, 2012
Tuesdays at 10 a.m. beginning January 10, 2012
Wednesdays at 7 p.m. beginning January 11, 2012

LifeLight Small Groups resume in January with a study on prayer.  This nine-week class offers the opportunity to study the material in daily "assignments" and then meet in a group to discuss the material. Watch for more information in the Sunday bullegins in December. Childcare is available for the evening classes.

Discovering God's Plan in Parenting Teens
Meets Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.

Parenting is hard work, from infancy to adulthood, and we do not believe that God intended anyone to parent alone. We have support groups for young parents like MOMS, so why not for parents of teenagers?

If you are a parent of a teen or a pre-teen, you are invited to join us for a time of Bible study (on Romans), prayer, and fellowship. Together we can navigate these waters, share successes and—hopefully—avoid some traps along the way. This study/prayer group is facilitated by Don & Susan Comi.

This group is on hiatus until after Easter.

Becoming a Love and Logic Parent Training Course
Begins January 9, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

"Becoming a Love and Lovic Parent Training Course," a 7-week course, is designed to give parents practical skills that can be used immediately.  The curriculum uses humor, hope, and empathy to build up the adult-child relationship.  It emphasizes respect and dignity both for the children and adults, provides real limits in a loving way, and teaches consequences with healthy decision making.

You'll want to sign up early--class is limited to 20 people.  Sign-up sheets are in the education wing near the childcare and preschool classrooms as well as in the church narthex.  Childcare will be provided.

"God For Us"
Begins Monday, January 23, 2012, at 7 p.m.

Do you have questions about the Christian Faith? Or about Lutheran Teaching?

This introduction to the basic teachings of Christ is designed for those who are interested in learning about the Christian faith, those who would like to know more about our Lutheran beliefs and practices, or those desiring to become new members of our church.

A new "God For Us" class begins January 23 at 7 p.m.. Please speak with or leave a message for Pastor Mike (483-4218) to express interest.

All are invited to take this class—even life-long Lutherans can benefit from a “refresher course” in the basics of the faith.

LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT PROCESS (LAP) CLASSES

Leadership Advancement Process is a program of classes offered through our Northwest District of the Missouri Synod which trains lay people for ministry to the Lord and leadership in their home congregations. Classes in biblical, doctrinal, and practical ministry help prepare laity to serve in their congregations in a variety of ways.

Cost for each LAP class is just $10 plus textbook (if one is required). For Licensed Deacon students, the cost of each class is $25 plus the cost of the textbook (if one is required).  To enroll or for more information, please contact Pilgrim Lutheran Church: 325-5738.

If you are interested in enrolling in the Lay Assistant/Licensed Deacon 10-course training for men or women and becoming a LAP student, please speak with Pastor Mike. If you are just interested in increasing your biblical knowledge, you are welcome to come to a class and participate as a non-LAP student.

New LAP classes will begin soon.
