“Spirit & Truth” weekly Sunday evening worship service debuts September 11 at 7 p.m.

You are invited to join us as the praise team musicians of Holy Cross introduce a new worship opportunity called “Spirit & Truth” on Sunday evenings from 7-8 p.m. beginning September 11.

This new service will look and feel significantly different from our Sunday mornings together yet the word of God will be the same. It will contain the same sermon from the same scripture as preached that morning.

This evening service will be:

Casual:  Come as you are—dress casually!

Modern:  Featuring contemporary Christian music, it will be mostly music and message.

Christ-Centered:  Confession and forgiveness, God’s word, preaching, and the Lord’s Supper will set the pattern; the whole service revolves around Jesus.

Family-Friendly:  Including a message for the kids, it will always end before 8 p.m. so parents can get their children home to bed.

Friend-Friendly:  A less formal option for inviting others to come meet Jesus

We’re calling it “Spirit & Truth” because Jesus said, “The time is coming and has now come when true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks” (John 4:23).

All of our worship as believers in Jesus is worship in Spirit and in Truth. God has placed his Spirit in our hearts and this Spirit leads us into the truth by reminding us of all that Jesus has said to us (John 14:26). Those words, Jesus’s words, are truth.  Since Jesus is present in our worship by his word and in the Lord’s Supper through his body and blood, and since we have the Spirit living in us and working within that word and the sacraments, our worship is in Spirit and in Truth no matter where we do it or what form it takes.

Join us on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. beginning September 11 to worship our Savior in “Spirit & Truth.”
