In July, Pastor Mike and Micah along with Don and Susan Comi headed north to Gakona, Alaska, a small Athabascan Native Village on the Copper River, to lead Vacation Bible School.
This is the fourth summer that Holy Cross, working through Alaska Mission for Christ, has participated in Vacation Bible School in Gakona. The plan is to again use curriculum from the Cross My Art center here at Holy Cross to hold art classes with the kids in the village over four days. Last year 15 to 20 children participated each day.
Art paired with VBS gives kids a taste of art and at the same time connects them with a variety of Bible stories, all pointing to the love of God in Christ. Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to live out that love building relationships with the kids and encouraging them in Christ.
